I mean, really, is it that hard to say what you actually want? A simple “I don’t really want to go” works much better and keeps girlfriend much happier than “Oh, but I don’t really know anyone, and I’ll be tired, and I need to be home on time, etc.”
So screw him. After I finish dancing, I’m spending the night with the girls, partying with glowsticks, sparklers, and UV lights.

Though, to be fair, Colin Firth made a pretty good Lord Henry, and he girl who plays Emily is HOT.

Really not feeling the joy at all. Stupid shoppers. Angry drivers. Stressed workers. Spending time with “family” that I never really even see, and don’t really want to. Dressing up just to go spend 8 hours at a relatives place, stuck between the little kids and the adults. …where I get told off if I read. Hot stinking weather. Just not feeling it.
